What Just Happened
Amazon just put an AI doctor inside the app you use to buy everything else. It's called Health AI. It reads your medical history, explains your lab results, manages your prescriptions, and books you a real doctor when you need one. It's free for Prime members. And it's available right now.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
🌎 Amazon Health AI: What It Does And Why It Matters
Health AI lives inside Amazon.com and the Amazon app. Give it permission to access your medical records and it can see your diagnoses, medications, and health history. Ask it to explain your cholesterol results, figure out why you've been congested, or break down the side effects of a new medication. It answers based on your actual medical data, not generic internet advice.
When you need real care, it connects you to a licensed One Medical provider. Prime members get up to five free consultations for over 30 common conditions. That's up to $145 in free care. Non-Prime members can still use it at $29 per visit.
Under the hood it's a multi-agent system on Amazon Bedrock. A core agent talks to you. Sub-agents handle prescriptions and appointments. Auditor agents review conversations in real time. When something needs a human, it escalates to a real clinician. This isn't WebMD. It's a coordinated AI medical team.
The Bigger Picture
Every major AI company is racing to become your health advisor. OpenAI launched ChatGPT Health in January. Anthropic launched Claude for Healthcare the same month. Google shipped MedGemma 1.5. Microsoft launched Copilot Health. The healthcare AI space went from empty to crowded in less than three months.
But Amazon has an advantage none of them have. 200 million Prime members who already trust Amazon with their credit card, their address, and their shopping habits. Amazon also owns One Medical, giving them a direct pipeline from AI advice to licensed medical care. No other AI company can go from "explain my lab results" to "here's a real doctor in your messages" in one step.
Nearly two-thirds of Americans say they feel overwhelmed by the healthcare system. Weeks-long appointment waits. Repetitive paperwork. Insurance confusion. Amazon is betting that the same convenience that made people order toilet paper in two clicks will make them manage their health the same way.
The healthcare industry should be paying attention. When Amazon enters a market with free tools for 200 million people, the incumbents usually don't have long to respond.

Anthropic shipped auto mode for Claude Code. Until now developers had two options: approve every single action manually which kills your flow, or skip all permissions which risks destroying your codebase. Auto mode is the middle ground. A classifier reviews each action before it runs. Safe actions proceed automatically. Risky ones like mass file deletions or data exfiltration get blocked. If Claude keeps insisting on a blocked action, it escalates to you. Available now for Team plan users with Enterprise and API access coming in the next few days.

What's The Recap
Amazon put a free AI doctor inside the Amazon app. It reads your medical history, explains lab results, manages prescriptions, and books real doctors. 200 million Prime members get up to five free consultations. Anthropic continues its shipping rampage with the new auto mode, and developers keep having to learn new things every day they wake up.
